The political battleground in Siliguri witnessed a clash of words as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari held simultaneous meetings in close proximity at Kanchenjunga Stadium.
Mamata Banerjee in her address alleged that the state is being deprived of its rightful share of funds from the center. During the Siliguri meeting, she expressed dissatisfaction with the central government, stating, "The center has stopped funding state projects, including those for minorities. Despite the halt in widow allowances, I have ensured everyone's inclusion in Lakshmi Bhandar."
While on the other end, Shubhendu Adhikari has attacked Mamata saying that Banerjee comes to North Bengal only to celebrate holidays and makes false promises.
Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Delhi at the end of the week, where she plans to meet with the Prime Minister on December 20. The issue of pending state dues is expected to be a focal point of discussion. The Chief Minister has openly challenged the Center regarding the funds owed to the state, emphasizing that despite the lack of support, the state government continues to run welfare schemes.
